The revised ISO 9001:2026 standard has now been published. Read the biggest changes here: https://true-solutions.co.uk/iso-9001-2026-now-published/
The publication of ISO 9001:2026 marks the start of the official transition period from ISO 9001:2015. The revision is an evolution rather than a complete rebuild, with greater emphasis on quality culture, leadership, ethical behaviour, and opportunities alongside risks.
Organisations have until 30 September 2029 to transition from ISO 9001:2015 to ISO 9001:2026. Your existing certificate will remain valid during this period, subject to your certification arrangements and continued compliance. ISO 9001:2015 certificates must be transitioned by the end of the transition period.
Not necessarily. For most organisations, the transition can be completed during a scheduled surveillance or recertification audit. Alternatively, it can be carried out through a separate transition assessment if required. Your certification body will be able to advise on the most appropriate approach for your organisation.
We recommend reviewing your current Quality Management System against the updated standard and carrying out a gap analysis to identify any changes that may be required. In particular, look at how leadership promotes quality culture and ethical behaviour, how risks and opportunities are identified, and how opportunities for improvement are considered. Starting early allows you to plan updates without unnecessary pressure, and we can help you every step of the way.
