Carbon Footprints

Carbon (GHG) Footprint Reporting

What is a Carbon (GHG) Footprint?

A carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced directly or indirectly by an organisation, product, or activity. Understanding and managing your carbon footprint is a critical step in reducing environmental impact, meeting regulatory requirements and demonstrating your commitment to sustainability and Net Zero.

Our Carbon Footprint Services

We offer a comprehensive range of Carbon (GHG) Footprint services tailored to your organisation’s needs:

01

Carbon Footprint Assessment

Analyse Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to gain a comprehensive view of your greenhouse gas impact, using recognised frameworks such as the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064 to ensure accuracy and consistency.

02

Third-Party Verification

Provide your stakeholders confidence with a trusted, externally verified carbon footprint. We provide verification certificates and logos, enabling you to demonstrate to clients that your footprint has been independently reviewed and verified by True Solutions.

How can True Solutions help?

Emissions Measurement & Scope Analysis

True Solutions can help organisations understand and measure their direct and indirect emissions. Using our expertise, we can calculate companies’ emissions, categorising them by Scope 1, Scope 2, or Scope 3 and identify your most emitting activities.

Decarbonisation Strategy & Net-Zero Support

True Solutions can further support organisations in starting their decarbonisation journey, helping them set goals to become net-zero and/or providing support in carbon offsetting to achieve Carbon Neutrality.

Carbon Reduction Plan

Stakeholder and Regulatory Reporting

Prepare professional reports for stakeholders, regulators, and voluntary reporting schemes.

Emissions Reduction & Net Zero Planning

Develop actionable plans to reduce emissions and display your plan to Net Zero.

Framework Participation Support

Support your participation in frameworks such as Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Science-Based Targets (SBTi) and PPN 06/21.

Carbon Offsetting & Renewable Certifications

Support with carbon offsetting and renewable energy certifications where needed.

Scope 3 Supply Chain Engagement

Work with you and your supply chain to ensure Scope 3 transparency and reductions.

The Benefits of Taking Action

Addressing your carbon footprint isn’t just good for the planet – it’s good for your business:

  • Operational Efficiency: Reduce waste and optimise energy usage.
  • Brand Strength: Position your company as a leader in becoming Net Zero.
  • Futureproofing: Prepare for stricter regulations and evolving market demands.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does being Net Zero mean?

Being Net Zero means reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to the lowest possible level and then neutralising any remaining emissions by permanently removing an equivalent amount from the atmosphere (e.g., through carbon capture, reforestation, or other verified removal methods).

  • Reduce first: Organisations must make deep, science-based cuts in emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 (e.g., energy efficiency, renewable energy, low-carbon supply chains).
  • Neutralise residual emissions: Any emissions that cannot be fully eliminated must be offset through permanent carbon removals, not just avoided emissions.
  • Different from Carbon Neutrality: Carbon Neutrality can rely more heavily on offsets, while Net Zero requires prioritising real emission reductions before balancing the rest.

Net zero is aligned with the Paris Agreement goal to limit global warming to 1.5°C, and the UK have legally committed to reaching Net Zero by 2050.

Can you help us meet ISO 14064 verification?

Yes. We can support and help your organisation calculate a footprint in line with ISO 14064 and gain this certification.

ISO 14064 is an international standard for quantifying, monitoring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals. Achieving certification involves:

  • Measuring emissions – Developing a comprehensive GHG inventory across Scopes 1, 2, and (where applicable) Scope 3.
  • Applying ISO 14064 methodology – Using standardised principles for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and transparency.
  • Verification – Having the data and processes independently assessed by an accredited third-party auditor.

Organisations’ Carbon (GHG) Footprints can become verified under ISO 14064 by working with a recognised certification body.

How long will it take to calculate my Scope 1, 2 and 3 Carbon (GHG) Footprint?

Calculation of a full Carbon (GHG) Footprint Report typically takes around 6-12 weeks; however, this timeframe can vary depending on the organisation’s size and data readiness.

What does being Carbon Neutral mean?

Being Carbon Neutral means that an organisation, product, or individual has balanced the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions they release with an equivalent amount of emissions that are either avoided, reduced, or removed from the atmosphere.

In practice, this involves:

  • Measuring – Calculating your carbon footprint across Scopes 1, 2, and (ideally) Scope 3.
  • Reducing – Implementing actions to cut emissions as much as possible (e.g., energy efficiency, renewables, low-carbon supply chains).
  • Offsetting – Purchasing verified carbon credits to compensate for the remaining emissions that cannot yet be eliminated.

Carbon Neutrality is often a milestone on the journey to Net Zero, which goes further by requiring deep emission reductions and permanent removals in line with climate science.

Can you verify my Carbon (GHG) Footprint?

Yes. We will calculate and verify your Carbon (GHG) Footprint, providing you with a logo and a certificate to demonstrate that True Solutions has assessed and verified the footprint.

If you have a footprint that has already been calculated and are looking for someone to third-party verify it, we can assist you with this process. This will involve us reviewing the data and methodology and offering potential feedback on improvements. After completing this process, we will also provide you with a verification certificate and logos, which can be displayed to stakeholders to confirm verification by True Solutions.
